Key Accountabilities
The Corporate Communications Department of AXA IM brings together roughly forty employees across six departments:

  • Media relations
  • Internal communication
  • Corporate messaging
  • Brand and advertising
  • Web and social media

The role of the media relations team is to:

  • increase the visibility and reputation of AXA IM in the media (print and web)
- support the company's strategy and drive its implementation, to reinforce the understanding of AXA IM's role and ambition to an external audience
- position the company as a thought leader in its sector of activity on various topics (e.g., responsible investment, active long-term investment management)
- protect the brand and the reputation of the company, especially in times of crisis and handling of sensitive issues


1- Co-lead the media relations strategy in the UK, managing AXA IM's brand, ensure the company promotes its image in a proper, coordinated, and consistent manner.

  • Manage a proactive (press release, interviews, events ) and reactive (statements, interviews ) flow of interaction between the media and AXA IM, to reinforce our brand and promote our key and priority topics.
  • Serve as a company spokesperson, developing and maintaining relationships of trust and respect between AXA IM and the UK press institutional, wholesale and retail.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal speakers and media savvy clients to leverage media opportunities where relevant.
  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships with key journalists across all key channels.
  • Work closely with and help oversee the local PR agency in the UK to design and implement the media relations strategy.
  • Work with the UK sales, clients, and marketing teams to promote the business priorities, themes, and relevant strategies in the UK press.
  • Detect media relations issues as they emerge and address them to manage reputation risks.
  • Monitor and analyse media coverage.

2- Contribute to the design and implementation of AXA IM's corporate media relations initiatives and campaigns.

  • Work in close collaboration with the team members in Paris and London to ensure effective implementation of the global media relations priorities.
  • Promote AXA IM's corporate spokespeople where and when appropriate.
  • Advise the company's senior leaders and speakers regarding the media relations strategy for corporate topics, sensitive business matters and identify media opportunities. Also lead on drafting briefing notes, setting up media trainings etc.
  • Take lead on corporate topics and act as a project manager across the communications team on responsible investing topics, corporate/business initiatives, fund launches and wider global corporate communication projects).
  • Drive ideas, content and solutions to help develop AXA IM's visibility in the press worldwide.
  • Compose and edit press releases, position statements, Q&As, media comments, media briefings, press kits etc.
  • Plan and oversee press events (press conferences, exhibitions, media seminars...)
  • Maintain and, where necessary, build relationships with key UKbased global/pan European journalists.
  • Maintain relationship with media and communication colleagues in AXA IM's key local markets globally and provide help, advice, and strategic direction where necessary to ensure coherent and consistent messaging.
  • Liaise with the Global Marketing team to promote global business priorities and take the lead for media relations when appropriate.
  • Contribute to the team's key measurements to monitor impact in the press: monitor key media relations KPIs, provide the necessary and effective reporting for stakeholders and monitor/oversee measurement tools.
  • Ensure proper leverage and coordination of content internally, externally and with the PR network across the world.

3- Protect AXA IM's image and manage its reputation.

  • Proactively monitor AXA IM's coverage in the media (print and online).
  • Help identify reputation issues and prepare reactive statements, as well as coordinate internally with other communication teams members and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure media relations rules and standards are known and respected internally and oversee media training for key spokespeople when needed.

Experience

  • Experience in the media relations space.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Multitasking a need to work on many activities simultaneously and be aware of multiple deadlines.
  • Highly organised with the ability to meet strict deadlines and treat information confidentially.
  • A positive and confident personality, happy to work with senior stakeholders.
  • Cando attitude with credibility and confidence to liaise with senior level management.
  • Demonstrate ability to collaborate well with executive management in a complex and matrix environment within an organisation, and globally.
