Finance Assistant 3-6 Month Fixed Term Contract | Lincoln, Lincolnshire

Salary :
£20,000 to £22,000


Home based with One day in the Lincoln Office

Part Time (22.5 hours across either 3 or 4 days a week) needs to be able to work Tuesdays


Our client is a well respected organisation who is looking for a Finance Assistant to perform a 3 to 6 month contract.

You can be home-based with one day in the office but will be required to work on a Tuesday and also be able to go into the office initially for 2 weeks training.

As Finance Assistant you will support the Finance team in carrying out the day-to-day running of the Purchase and Sales Ledgers together with processing the payment of suppliers' invoices.


Finance Assistant duties include:

  • Process all internal Purchase Requisitions
  • Process all supplier invoices, credit notes and journals to the purchase ledgers, ensuring they are authorised by the relevant budget holder
  • Produce payment reports and pay supplier accounts as and when due for payment
  • Reconcile supplier statements with the relevant company's purchase ledger and resolve associated queries with suppliers promptly.
  • Process travel claims
  • Monitor the supplier account balances on the creditors report to ensure credit notes are received and are paid back to us promptly.
  • Monitor supplier accounts paid by direct debit on a quarterly basis
  • Assist with VAT returns by checking that the VAT code recorded on invoices is accurate for the combination of customer/supplier and cost code.
  • Receive and record sales invoices to the sales ledger. Issue statements to customers, and chase customers for payment of overdue debts.

Finance Assistant Requirements:

  • Previous experience of administrating a financial ledger
  • Experience of working with computerised accounting systems.
  • Use of software to create spreadsheets / templates for use by self and others
  • Excel skills must be at a minimum of Intermediate level to enable efficient and effective preparation of financial data.
  • Able to provide evidence of provision of accurate and timely financial information reports to a high standard.
  • To have an accountancy qualification or previous experience of working in an account teams
