What do the Buro Happold Sports & Entertainment Consultancy team do?:

Buro Happold's Sports and Entertainment Consulting Group were created to win and deliver a broad range of work within the sports, music and entertainment sector.

Our group consists of architects, engineers and management consultants focussed on sports design, technical consulting and a broad range of sports advisory services including strategic planning and feasibility studies.


This position would be ideal for a Part 1 architectural student or year in practice engineer or other undergraduate (economics, geography, business etc) looking for a wealth of experience within an exciting sector.

This position is a great opportunity for someone with good design skills, who is graphically strong, able to work across a variety of projects and be a true team player.

What sort of projects would I work on?:
Recent and current projects won or delivered by the Group include:

  • A legacy strategy for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games
  • A major events strategy for the Diriyah Gate Development Authority, KSA
  • Florentina stadium competition with Zaha Hadid Architects
  • Nondisclosed sports park with Heatherwick Architects
  • Nondisclosed stadium, arena and swimming complex with Foster and Partners Architects
  • A sports strategy for the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, KSA
  • A Regenerative Nature Based Tourism Strategy for the NEOM marine reserve, KSA
  • Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) National Training and Sports Performance Centre, Taif, KSA
  • Tsirio Athlete and Sports Campus, with BIG Architects, Cyprus
  • JCDC Stadium, Client support role in project inception / brief writing / competition process; ongoing design team role as sports technical advisor to gmp Architects, Jeddah, KSA
  • Twickenham stadium, clientside advisor and design support for ongoing building improvements and renovation options.

What would I do?:


Work winning activities

  • Help to identify and track business opportunities including tenders and RFP's
  • Participate in Group weekly calls and other business development calls and address followup actions
  • Work with Buro Happold in supporting design architects in sports projects along with the wider team
  • Support PQQ's and proposals for new work as required
  • Work with Buro Happold in new sports projects / pursuits
  • Prepare general marketing collateral to support conferences, work winning etc
  • Support design teams / clients / operators in development of sports related projects

Work delivery activities

  • Work with the project leader on project management tasks
  • Join project / client review meetings and implement actions as appropriate
  • Work on a range of project deliverables and reports
  • Undertake desk research and consultation as required
  • Support design work in sports architecture including reports, design input and research


Our team uses various design software and IT systems such as Microsoft Office (powerpoint, excel), Adobe (InDesign, Illustrator), CAD (Rhino).

Any previous exposure and/or experience using these systems would be highly beneficial to your learning experience with us.
