Job location:
Barton Under Needwood.

Shifts:
Days - Monday to Thursday - 7am to 5pm Friday - 7am to 1pm

Duration:
Permanent.


Salary:
£26,000 per annum.

Hours per week: 44 hours per week.

Start date:

Client overview:
Leading manufacturer and front line supplier of powertrain products based in the UK and Ireland. Areas of expertise include Engine Overhaul, final Drive Overhaul and locomotive refurbishment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To carry out repairs, modifications or overhaul of electronic equipment in accordance with work instructions and schematics.
  • Where equipment does not achieve the required outputs; investigate, fault find and diagnose likely causes and where possible correct the fault.
  • Work on own initiative and as part of dedicated team of engineers, working to production deadlines and Quality procedures.
  • Undertake, and in due course provide, any necessary product training within the team to allow flexibility between the differing product areas.
  • Undertake any required training in related processes.
  • Record components used at each stage of repair, modification and overhaul, for the purposes of reporting to the customer and maintaining repair history records.
  • Record material and labour time information in order to provide repair costs to customer.
  • Use MRP/ERP system to process repair orders and consume parts for stock control purposes.
  • To provide technical support to customers, when required.
  • To attend site to assist the customer, when required.
  • To attend training at sister companies in Europe, when required.
  • To comply with all company guidelines and policies regarding Quality, Health and Safety, Environmental and Human Resources.
  • To identify methods of improvement within the areas of responsibility and participate in any initiatives.
  • To liaise and assist other departments if requested.
  • To be willing to work flexible hours where department workload requires.
  • To carry out any other reasonable duty or task as instructed by your line manager in pursuit of the goals and objectives.

Background and experience:

  • Previous experience within the rail industry
  • Good communication skills
  • Good team worker
  • Significant experience in fault finding and delivery of electronic engineering solutions that solve complex requirements
  • Good leadership and problemsolving skills
  • Able to use electronic test equipment and experience in soldering
Previous experience in electronic testing, faultfinding and repair

Qualifications required:

  • Degree or equivalent in Electronic Engineering (ideal)
  • Soldering to IPC 7711/7721 standard (if not training will be provided)
