Data Engineer
Hybrid role Office in Peterborough
Salary up to £55.000 dependant on experience


What you can expect to be working on:

  • Within the first 6 months you will be on rotation around the team completing commercial developments, undertaking DBA tasks, and helping to correct errors in our processes.
  • By the end of your first year, you will be competent in all our systems and be helping to design and implement new data models and help implement our data strategy.
  • As a seasoned Data Engineer you will have worked across multiple source systems in a variety of different data formats, take an active part in Design Assurance and be highly skilled in Data Modelling and SQL. You will be comfortable maintaining and improvingon prem and cloud based data processes and helping to define new ones.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:


  • Work within an agile team to deliver robust solutions that meet the functional and technical requirements of the customer.
  • Liaise with colleagues and Change Owners to help shape requirements
  • Show strict adherence to technical and quality standards within agreed timeframes
  • Contribute to improving standards and working practices where possible
  • Champion the need for a "quality first" approach
  • Active learner keeping up to date with developments in your technical and professional area of expertise
  • Actively share your knowledge with your team and your technology community

Technical Skills

  • Intermediate industry experience of Data Warehousing
  • Intermediate Database Administration skills
  • Good working knowledge of Data Factory
  • Experience in Microsoft SQL Server architecture
  • Working knowledge of OLAP processes
  • Working knowledge of Reporting tools
  • Intermediate experience of ETL principles
  • Experience of relational database design principles
  • Ability to effectively coach other team members
  • Knowledge of agile development practices
  • Good knowledge of the principles and implementation of normalisation
  • Understanding of "test first" approach
  • An understanding of XML and JSON structures
  • Experience of working with external APIs
  • Experience of source control in GIT
