Are you an experienced care / support worker looking to start a career in schools ?

GSL Education are currently recruiting for Support Assistants for an SEMH Primary and Secondary school based in Tyne and Wear


You will work with primary and secondary aged pupils with a range of special educational needs, helping students progress socially and academically, as well as promoting independence.


The school we are recruiting for is a specialist setting which caters for young people with additional needs around Social and emotional issues, mental health, behaviour, anxiety and ASD.

You will work as part of a motivated and caring support team that is focused on helping young people grow and flourish.

The setting is easy to get to by public transport or car. This role is Mon-Friday Term Time only with working hours of

The role is ongoing and expected to run until at least December 2023


Key Job Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide a personalised learning experience for all pupils
  • Provide support of the highest quality, following the direction of the class teacher
  • Support the delivery of lessons inline with the Primary and Secondary School National Curriculum's
  • Provide a safe learning environment for students in your care
  • Work alongside other education professionals such as Education Psychologists, Social Workers and CAMHS

Ideal Support Worker attributes:

  • Have at least 6 months handson experience of supporting adults or young people with additional needs, such as Physical Learning Disabilities, Dyslexia SEMH, Aggression, PMLD, Anxiety, Self Harm, Autism, ADHD, Learning and Medical Difficulties, Attachment Disorder and LAC/ Residential backgrounds
  • Have a calm and caring demeanour, with a positive outlook on life
  • Hold a UK recognised qualification such as a Level 3 NQV in Health and Social Care, Complete Care Certificate, or Level 3 NVQ in Children and Young People (Desired but not necessary)
  • Be kind. charismatic and patient and be able to engage young people in educationalbased activities
In addition to that, we are currently offering £100 for the successful referral of either Teachers or Teaching Assistants
