_Join Our Team at Chelmsford City Council__ learn about us, Our Values, Our range of Benefits and more_**With a thriving and expanding city centre, the Chelmsford City Council's Street Care Services Team are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to play a key role in helping us achieve national standards of cleanliness. The successful applicant will be sweeping, cleansing and removing litter from the town centre areas using a range of pedestrian controlled machines, brooms and hand tools and must be confident in working alone or as part of a team.


The Street Care service is responsible for the cleanliness of the whole City and undertake a range of street care and cleaning activities to ensure that public spaces across the city are maintained to a high environmental quality.

This helps to provide an attractive and diverse environment where people feel safe and secure as well as ensuring the Council operates in accordance with code of practice on litter and refuse.


Based at our Freighter House depot, but working from our Retail Market compound, the post holder would normally be expected to work 37 hours per week from Friday to Tuesday, this includes weekends and bank holidays (for which additional leave entitlement will be given) and a current full UK driving licence is desirable.


It should be noted however that some flexibility will be required when special events are held in the town centre including earlier starts or later finishes on occasions for which additional payment will be made.
