Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Residential Child Care Worker within a Local Authorities children's homes to work full time based in Bristol.
The salary for this permanent Residential Support Worker job is up to £ 26,845 per annum.Main duties:
- Specifically take account of the choices, needs and wishes of each child, involving children in their own plans and day to day decisions where appropriate
- Take personal responsibility for learning about each child and the way their childhood experiences affect them, 'listening' to the individual and reflecting on own practice to continuously develop their own knowledge and skills
- Ensure positive professional relationships are maintained with children, families, and other professionals always
- Ensure young people's confidentiality is always maintained
- Support children through their journey in care into independence
- Attend team meetings, supervisions and appraisals and actively take a role in developing own continuous professional development
- Work with managers to identify needs and access relevant learning and development opportunities and share that learning with others
- Take responsibility to attend mandatory courses which are required to fulfil the role
- Assisting them to develop & maintain a high standard of personal hygiene & appearance
- Supporting young people to make appropriate choices regarding their nutritional needs
- Administering medication in accordance with their needs taking full account of the Medication Policy and Procedures
- Accompanying them to the dentist, doctor and all other appointments, as appropriate
- Reporting to managers any concerns regarding the young people's welfare including health and safety issues in the home
- Understand the importance of accurate and professional recording of children's working files/plans, using these effectively and professionally to inform practice daily
- To ensure, with the support of the Registered/Deputy Managers, you understand your role working within the service and in line with quality standards and Ofsted regulations
- Working as part of a team, sharing responsibility fairly and being supportive of others
Requirements of this job:
- Desirable to have the Level 3 Diploma for Children & Young People's Workforce or equivalent or willingness to complete
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- An understanding of the needs of looked after young people
- Knowledge of relevant regulations, legislation and statutory guidance
- An understanding of intervention strategies
