Quality Manager
Low volume, traditional manufacturing, and engineering.
Black Country, on site role.
Salary circa £40,000 - £45,000, 28 days holiday, healthcare plan, pension, early finish on Friday
This well-established, traditional manufacturing and engineering firm have been trading since the 1900's. They are well respected in the specialist markets they work in. The business is stable, with a firm order book, working with existing clients and newbusiness.
This will be a great role for Quality inspectors who want to make the move into a quality management position.
Key responsibilities.
- Ensure that all products are manufactured to the prescribed standards, and that customer requirements are met
- Total responsibility for the continued effectiveness and coordination of all Quality Control operations
- Ensure that all quality criteria, manufacturing instructions and processes, are strictly adhered to and controlled to ensure compliance with ISO 900
- Monitor and advise on the performance of the quality management system
- Liaise with staff throughout the organisation to ensure that the quality management system is functioning properly, and effectively
- Overseeing the standards and specifications, drawings, Engineering Masters, works orders, and the amendments required
- Oversee the Management Review and Auditing processes
- Liaise with customers, in the management of Customer Complaints and Corrective Action processes, where quality issues arise
- Assist in the Design process
- Overseeing the Assessment Bodies audit visits
- Define quality procedures in conjunction with operating staff
- Review existing policies and make suggestions for changes and improvements and how to implement them and assess the effectiveness of changes made.
- Work with purchasing staff to establish and ensure that quality requirements for external suppliers are met
- Use relevant quality tools, and help managers and other staff understand how to improve the business
- Measure and monitor performance and identify any areas of weakness, recommending and implementing improvements
- Arrange training, tools and techniques to enable others to achieve the quality standards
- Monitor quality performance by overseeing the regular gathering of relevant data and statistical reports
- Amend and update the company's quality procedures and assess the effectiveness of changes made
- Manage the quality control / inspection team
- Participate in site visits when required
- Inform of any matters of concern that would affect the performance of the product
- Advise of any ideas for improvement within the department
The Quality Manager's role also includes the following responsibilities of the Chief Inspector assisted by the Quality Control Inspector.
- Responsible for the management of all Goods In, Inprocess and Final Inspection/testing
- Ensure that all suppliers and subcontract operations meet the quality requirements for both companies.
- Oversee all process operations for new products as they progress through production for the first time
- Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of all Quality Control systems
- Responsible for the control and maintenance of calibration system and its process
- Liaise with third party inspection/testing personnel
- Responsible for Type testing, and raising testing documentation
- Provide updates to senior managers and directors around quality issues.
- Set standards and benchmarks for quality, to meet expectations.
- Quality reporting.
- Updating of Visual relevant records
