The JAG Audit Officer will manage the co-ordination of data collection and analysis and facilitate the implementation of subsequent service improvements to ensure that the Endoscopy services remain safe and effective thus maintaining JAG accreditation.

The role will involve the triangulation of data and information from multiple sources, in coordination with undertaking observations of the clinical environments, practitioners and patient care in order to inform JAG compliance monitoring, the identification of quality issues and the follow up of action plans.

With an extensive knowledge of Endoscopy, the post holder will identify service development needs within the clinical environment.

They will actively promote learning to all levels of staff to facilitate service improvement to ensure patient safety and quality services are maintained at all times and that patients experience quality care.


The post holder will work collaboratively with the Lead Clinician and other members of the Endoscopy team, taking an active role in ensuring the service consistently delivers the highest standards of clinical care.

This will include vigorously supporting the implementation of new nationally agreed directives, especially those related to cancer screening programmes, and seeking routes to improve and develop the service for the future.


  • To be responsible for coordinating data collection for ongoing relevant quality and safety reports to be submitted for maintaining JAG accreditation.
  • Ensure the achievement and maintenance of standards at the required level for the Global Rating Scheme (GRS) for Endoscopy and the Joint Advisory Group on Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (JAG).
  • To develop and coordinate a schedule of audits on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis to ensure ongoing compliance with JAG.
  • To lead the JAG team in the analysis and interpretation of the data and information required to support the quality and safety agenda, endoscopy management team and clinical lead.
  • To be able to identify pertinent sources of data as appropriate, identify areas of concern and assist in the development of strategies to rectify areas of concern in line with departmental objectives.
  • Ability to undertake timely and detailed analysis of wideranging data sets on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis.
  • Ensure feedback from patient experience and complaints is utilised appropriately to identify and implement necessary changes to services to ensure consistent quality, safety and a positive patient experience.
Lead, co-ordinate and manage quality and safety related projects using evidence-based practice. Offering support and guidance to individuals within the team in completion of audits for JAG.
