An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and patient-centred Pharmacy Technician to join our forward-thinking and friendly care home pharmacy team.


The Care Home Pharmacy team support residents in both nursing and residential care setting across Hertfordshire and West Essex, providing pharmacy support, and ensuring safe medicines management practice is followed whilst supporting staff to improve and embed the safe use of medicines.

The Pharmacy team collaborate with system partners to provide pharmacy input and medicines management assurance, working collaboratively to identify risk, improve the safe use of medicine, reduce harm, and improve patient outcomes.


The post maintains close links with community pharmacy, PCN pharmacy teams, the local authority, the safeguarding team and ICB Nursing and Quality team.


In addition to having lots of enthusiasm, applicants should ideally have some experience or knowledge in a primary or secondary care setting although experience in care homes is not essential.


The post holder will work in social care settings alongside pharmacists and other pharmacy technicians reviewing care home medication systems and processes whilst supporting the implementation of recommendations with NICE guidance for managing Medicines in Care homes.

Accurately recording and reporting findings and outcome data as required to support quality improvement initiatives.


Provide educational and training around safe and appropriate ordering, storage, administration, and waste reduction of medicines within a care home environment.

The role will combine a mixture of field-based care home work, office-based working and independent work from home. Travel will be required between settings. This post will be based in West Essex place. Frequent travel across West Essex is expected and travel across Hertfordshire may occasionally be required.
