As part of the Strategic Leadership Team for the Digital & Data Directorate the post holder will lead the scoping, planning & co-ordination of the Digital Transformation team across CTMUHB.

The Assistant Director of Digital Transformation will support the Director of Digital & work alongside other Assistant Directors in providing sound leadership in all aspects of digital strategy, planning and design to enable service transformation & benefits realisation improving the experience for patients and staff.

A key role in leading and developing a credible health records transformation programme & ensure an Integrated Medium-Term Plan is aligned to the digital strategy & the goals of the Health Board also implementing new architecture designs and technologies that deliver efficiencies & improved health care.

The post holder will provide expert advice to the Executive Board on digital strategy & design & how that relates to the IMTP cycle; giving assurance to the Board on return on digital technology that is agile, fit for current and future purpose, safe and resilient and offers value for money.

The post holder will build strong collaborative relationships with a significant number of stakeholders, system wide across Health, Social Care, Housing, and the Emergency Services (Ambulance, Police and Fire and Rescue).

They will also identify relevant business contacts, building mutually productive partnerships and networks with other business and service providers.

Ensure that the strategy, planning & design resources meet the Health Board's short & long-term plans. Create strategic roadmaps & timelines for the deployment of new technologies. Advise the board on digital advancements & their benefits to the organisation.

Play a key leadership role in relation to the wider health & social care system, to play an active national role, influencing future digital transformational strategies & plans.

As the accountable officer for Digital Transformation, will attend & present to Senior Boards at the highest level, as required in respect of digital matters.


Participate in regular research & development, working with academia & 3rd parties to set the standard for industry partnership in Wales.

As one of the senior leaders within Wales, contribute to the wider health & organisational agenda of NHS Wales & WG, & act as a technology ambassador for the Health Board & NHS Wales.


We are looking for a professional/motivated & enthusiastic individual to join our team and be part of the leadership and implementation of Service Transformation across the Health Board, enabled by services provided by the Digital & Data teams.


We are developing an exciting strategy - CTM 2030, which will rely on new and innovative ways of providing Health and Care Services.

As such Digital & Data functions are a core enabler to delivering our strategy.


The successful applicant will provide leadership and day to day management support to the current digital transformation functions to ensure the organisation is able to meet its national commitments, mandatory requirements and undertake a programme of change which will include Health Board wide transformation of services.


They will provide crucial expertise to support the many initiatives underway across the University Health Board and help to lead service transformation for the benefit of the people across the Cwm Taf Morgannwg region and the wider population that access healthcare services within our area.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
