UK Group Operations Manager

Overview:

Our client is an established and fast-growing Destination Management company with offices in the UK and Ireland.

They are looking for their UK Group Operations Manager for their Edinburgh office (hybrid role) who has experience in the tourism industry andis confident in a fast-paced management position.

Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Management, coordination, and delivery of the Operations function
  • Book services within required timeframes and budgets
  • Monitor booking cycle and amend to ensure groups' requirements are always met and to avoid any cancellation charges
  • Delivery of cost and time saving processes, driving continuous improvements and ensure efficient operational practices
  • Monitoring budget v cost with the aim to either amend or implement new operational procedures to improve the company's profitability
  • Recruitment, training and management of operational staff and trainees
  • Monitor and address quality control issues with suppliers
  • Liaise with management across all departments to ensure SLAs are adhered to
  • Delivery of all travel documents (itineraries, vouchers, welcome signs) to the relevant parties (agents, suppliers, guides)
  • Periodic out of hours emergency phone coverage
  • Assisting with environmental and responsible tourism initiatives

Requirements and Qualifications:


Essential:


  • Contracting experience beneficial
  • Excellent organisational/administration skills with strong attention to detail
  • Confident in negotiating with external suppliers
  • Extensive knowledge of the UK Travel Trade
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • The ability to be methodical/orderly and accurate. Must be able to cope with strict work deadlines and be able to respond effectively to any new tasks
  • Flexibility and adaptability in approach
  • Team player able to work in a busy environment
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office

Desirable:


  • Relevant degree qualification in Languages, Business or Tourism
  • Knowledge of Tourplan NX
