A unique opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to work alongside the innovative interdisciplinary IDEAS Team (Interventions in Dementia: Education, Assessment and Support), based in Mountainhall Treatment Centre in Dumfries.


You must hold a degree or equivalent in Speech & Language Therapy, be registered with the RCSLT and UK HCPC, and have significant clinical experience working with adults with communication and swallowing difficulties.

You will have experience of working in Mental Health across Health and Social Care Partnerships, in care homes and care and support at home.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to take a flexible, creative and enabling approach to problem solving are required. The ability to balance a wide range of priorities whilst keeping focused on the team objectives is essential.

You will provide specialist mental health Speech and Language Therapy cover to Midpark acute Mental Health Hospital and provide support and supervision for SLTs working in the Mental Health Directorate.


The IDEAS Team is a tertiary team within the Community Mental Health Directorate, providing specialist advice, consultancy and training to staff across Health and Social Care who support people with dementia who may be experiencing stress and distress.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATES:


_NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week for __NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland _
_from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid, until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week._
