Base Location:
Slough Heat and Power


Salary:
£31,339 - £ shift allowance + London Allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances, and wellbeing.

Working Pattern:
Full Time - shift work


To operate the power station plant, Fuel Handling equipment including mobile plant and all auxiliaries to meet the daily load plan as directed by the Shift Team Leader.

Where necessary undertake Plant Operator duties whilst complying with the requirements of health, safety, and environmental guidance.

Upgrade to a minimum level of competence for the Plant Operator position where required to ensure business continuity.

  • Environment. Comply with our IPPC permit and ensure that the accreditation of the ISO14001 is maintained.
  • Staff Development. Provide support to the operations manager in any relevant staff development, share information and give advice when required. Assist in all Operational activities as directed by the Unit Operator/Shift Team Leader.
  • Conduct. Establish appropriate standards of conduct through leading by example in the following areas, safety, environmental issues, time keeping, appearance and behaviour. Maintain competencies for all plant and duties they are responsible for.
  • First Line Fault Finding and Repair. Investigate and diagnose the cause of plant failure and perform basic remedial repairs in order to maximise plant availability
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Minimum safety accreditation
  • IOSH
  • Experience of operating Fuel Handling/process plant equipment.
  • Experience of /Industry certification for operating heavy plant machinery including Front End Loaders and Forklift Trucks.
  • Experience of managing contractors or acting as a Working Party Leader to supervise fuel handling external partners.
  • Experience of Safe Systems of Work, Power Generation Safety Rules, and Authorised Person's competence.
  • Display ability to maintain Operational Running Logs & Documented systems & be able to interpret operational/ technical data.
  • Good inter personnel skills to work with all Power Station stakeholders including fuel suppliers, Customers and neighbours.
  • Aware of Environmental Legislation, policies, and procedures to maintain the Environmental ISO14001 standard and Environment Agency Integrated Pollution Prevention Control.
