London W2 (with hybrid working in the UK)

The Organisation
We're Imperial Health Charity, an organisation that helps our hospitals do more through grants, arts, volunteering and fundraising.

We support the five hospitals of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust:
Charing Cross, Hammersmith, Queen Charlotte's & Chelsea,St Mary's and the Western Eye.

We are currently seeking a Financial Controller to play a key role in our small finance team on a full-time basis, as maternity cover for a 12 month fixed term contract from March 2023.

The Role
As the Financial Controller, you will oversee and manage the financial operations of our charity.

Acting as the face of the finance department, you'll oversee financial controls, ensuring other colleagues are kept abreast of financial matters.

Managing the finance system, you'll also respond to internal queries, oversee income, submit payments and approve transactions.

Additionally, you will:

  • Line manage two Finance Officers
  • Prepare and manage all yearend duties
  • Manage and maintain the payroll system, purchase ledger and income ledger
  • Ensure the accuracy of fund accounting
  • Ensure accurate financial records are maintained

About You
To be considered as the Financial Controller, you will need:

  • A recognised accounting qualification (e.g., ICAEW, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Experience of working in a Financial Controller or Head of Finance role in a similar sized organisation (£5m+ turnover and approximately 40 staff)
  • Management experience
  • A clearthinking, proactive and solutionsfocused approach
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly present information to a range of audiences
