Description
Assess severity of drug/alcohol use and sexual risks taking using standardised measures developed and utilised by the service.

To ascertain where service users are with regards to a change cycle, with particularly focus on motivation and readiness for change


When thresholds have been met, to engage the service user in a structured one-to-one intervention, that lasts no more than 6 sessions, with a focus on harm minimisation and risk reduction.


When certain thresholds have been exceeded, to refer on according to the established stepped care model, including onward referral to internal clinical psychology services or specialist drugs services/voluntary services.

Provide mentoring and support for service users by working through actions plans and reviewing servicer user needs.

To refer appropriately to emergency psychiatric or medical services when and if needed.

Participate in clinical supervision on a regular basis.

Be up-to-date and work in line with adult and vulnerable person safeguarding practices and referral pathways within HUH.


Maintain effective channels of communication with regards to service user interventions ensuring that service user confidentiality is upheld at all times.

To maintain accurate records of all service users on a database.
