The Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment (SSEE) is a consortium partner in Climate Compatible Growth (CCG), a multi-year, multi-partner research and engagement project funded by the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office.

CCG undertakes research, knowledge transfer and engagement activities to help developing countries take a path of low-carbon, climate-resilient development whilst simultaneously unlocking opportunities for green growth and supporting delivery of the Sustainable Development Goals.

We are seeking to appoint a

pre-doctoral Research Assistant with a background in environmental and development economics to contribute to the activities of the CCG workstream on Economics and Policy, which is led by Prof Sam Fankhauser.


You will use your knowledge and experience to contribute to a diverse range of academic research projects, rapid-response reports and engagement activities on the economics of climate compatible growth.

A strong focus of the work will be on public and development finance interventions to enhance resilience to climate, health and economic shocks and mobilise finance for adaptation in emerging and developing economies, working with Dr Nicola Ranger and Prof Sam Fankhauser.

This post is fixed term for 2 years in the first instance.
