Due to successful promotion to a Senior Leadership role we have a vacancy for a Head of Science.

We are looking for a passionate and inspiring qualified Head of Science to join our supportive and talented team at Broadoak Academy.

This role is a permanent position required from 01 September 2023.

We provide excellent training and development opportunities within the Federation, including a full induction programme for early career and experienced teachers.

Training is both local and/or delivered through our excellent stand-alone training facility at the CLF Institute.

For teachers, the CLF Institute aims to provide a continuum of development through each career stage from initial teacher training (ITT), for early career teachers (ECT), recently qualified teachers in their early career development, to successive stages of leadership through to Headship and beyond.


What we are looking for:


Teachers support a designated cohort of students to make progress in their learning, engagement, core literacy, language and numeracy skills, and social development.

This is achieved through taking responsibility for the learning of students - planning, delivering, facilitating and assessing their learning whilst showing ambition to develop as an outstanding teacher and leader.

They will plan and deliver sessions and interventions, and provide a point of accountability, co-ordination and liaison for the students in their attendance, for their families and for professionals working with them.

They will work towards typically good and outstanding lessons that achieve good student progress over time.

This will be actioned by taking an active role in supporting the Academy's high expectations of student behaviour and attitudes towards learning.

This role carries a CLF Teacher TLR Allowance 1B - £10,203 per annum.


Broadoak Academy is part of CLF which is a 3-19 organisation with a mix of primary, secondary and an all through academies.

It is located in the south of Weston near to Uphill Village, Weston-super-Mare. There has been a school on this site serving the community for nearly 100 years and we have a PAN of 900

  • The proportion of children eligible for the pupil premium, which is additional funding for pupils in receipt of supported income, lookedafter children and children from service families is above the national average at 36%.
  • 11% of the school speak English as an additional language.

£28,000.00-£43,685.00 per year
