Description

A personal assistant is needed to work alongside 2 already in post personal assistants supporting a teenage young man to access clubs/outings/socialise and with all aspects of daily living.

The person you will be caring for is a full time wheelchair user, none verbal and uses a gastostromy.

The young man has cerebral palsy and relies on assistance throughout the day with all aspects of daily life. He is a very happy person who loves music, using the hydro pool, going out for a walk and outings to the zoo, the space centre and out for his tea to the pub

The successful applicant should be understanding, patient, outgoing and organised. They should also be able to work in an home environment with others who support the young person. Duties will include assisting with personal care, dressing etc. Help with meals and keeping the person safe and stimulated.

The hours are worked 1 day at the weekend (approx 10am till 5am) and after school (approx 3pm till 7pm) all done on a rota basis in advance.

No previous experience is necessary but you must be a positive and confident person, be looking for work that will make a positive difference to someone and be sensitive and caring.

Expenses paid and training courses where considered reasonable will be provided. Pension and overtime doing occasional nights are optional.
