Location:
Currently residing in Grateley, will be moving back to Salisbury approx June 2023

Our Client, Sebastian is recruiting for a Team Leader & Support Workers


Team Leader:
Two-week rolling rota, average of 42 hours per week, which includes care hours & admin (shifts every other weekend)


2 x Support Workers:

39 hours per week (including weekend hours).
Sleep ins and waking nights are also available

Pay and Benefits:

Team Leader:
£16.00 per hour Monday to Friday, £17.00 per hour Saturday and Sunday. There will also be a requirement to be available for on-call shifts. Rates of pay for these shifts will be discussed at interview.

Support Worker:
£12.50 per hour Monday to Friday, £14.50 per hour Saturday and Sunday. £NLW for sleep in nights (NLW is £9.50 per hour for aged 23+)

You will also benefit from 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata. DBS check, full induction, relevant and ongoing training (including The Care Certificate). On-going support from a dedicated Case Manager and HR department.


Essential:
Team Leader
:Supporting adults with Cerebral Palsy and aware of emotional, behavioural, and cognitive difficulties. Care Certificate/L3 qualification or above and supervisory experience.


Proof of eligibility to work in the UK for both Team Leader and Support Worker

Driver - You will be required to drive our client's Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle (WAV), (automatic).

Pets:
Please be aware that there is a dog and one cat in the family home.

Desirable:
Experience working with adults with trauma and an interest in therapy.


Background information about the role:


Sebastian, who is in his early twenties, is bright, alert and has a caring nature with a fantastic sense of humour.

He likes his electric guitar and attending all types of concerts, with his support workers.

Sebastian has a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy and is non-verbal.

He relies on eye gaze technology to communicate with those around him and he is given all his food and fluid via a gastrostomy button (PEG) for which training would be given.


As Sebastian's
Support Worker you will be working mainly within the family home, Sebastian will require full assistance with all aspects of daily living; monitoring of medical supplies, and arranging activities he enjoys and chooses.

You will be required to support him accessing the community by planning and arranging social activities. You may be required to accompany Sebastian on holiday. Sebastian requires 2:1 care 24/7.


Your role as
Team Leader will be as the Support Worker duties above and to lead a team of 8 members of staff and working closely with Sebastian's mother, Case Manager and Deputy Team Leader to ensure that Sebastian receives all the care he needs.

Main Skills and Behaviours

You should have experience of working with someone who has cerebral palsy and be able to work with specialist equipment (training will be provided).

A Handling Management Plan is available, but you may be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull.

Supporting in the home environment as well as assisting with appointments, liaising with health professionals and therapists and following advice and recommendations whilst ensuring Sebastian's safety and welfare.

Checking and monitoring the use of specialist equipment, administering and ordering medication.


Naturally, you will be a confident leader, with the knowledge of collating rotas, supervisions and appraisals, recruitment and induction, staff performance and monitoring of annual leave/sickness for the team, using and monitoring electronic recording of care records.

Comfortable working in Sebastian's own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of him and his family. By nature, you should be friendly, approachable and have an encouraging approach.


Great organisational skills, punctual, patient, and reliable qualities are something Sebastian will rely on so this is key in supporting him.
