Description
We are seeking an Infrastructure Officer to join the Parking Services team.

The role will involve a variety of maintenance and installation works so Islington can continue to offer first-class parking provision to our residents and visitors.


On-street role, primarily erecting, removal and confirming compliance of Advance Warning Notices for parking suspensions and also assisting removal of redundant street furniture as part of the on-going programme of decluttering Islington's streets, this will most likely include some Signs and Lines work.

Capturing Evidence with digital camera as necessary.

The job involves a mix of on-street and office work vital in supporting Islington Council's parking infrastructure.


Successful applicant will be required to provide cover (early or late shift) for team members on annual leave, etc so a broad adaptable relevant skillset and/or willingness to learn preferred.

To carry out minor road markings and sign installation works e.g. attach small signs using step-ladders and tools to signposts, lamp columns, etc. using suitable protective clothing and equipment.

To remove redundant parking pay and display machines or other parking assets from street.

To clean parking assets with solvents and chemicals using protection as necessary. To paint equipment with specialist finishes.


To adopt such safe working procedures and utilise such protective clothing and equipment necessary and appropriate to ensure personal and public safety in the performance of the duties; to take such precautions as are necessary in order to prevent damage to equipment, for example from chemicals, power sources and static electricity.


To drive a vehicle in order to undertake the daily duties and to accept responsibility for the use and condition of the vehicle in accordance with the Council's requirements including the completion of a vehicle-use log.

To assist the team to provide, maintain, monitor and improve the services provided by the Service/Team in accordance with Council policy so that they:

are efficiently and effectively discharged with the active participation of the local community, the voluntary sector, business and specialist groups as appropriate using appropriate consultative techniques.

are accessible to all members of the community and geared resources to their needs.


are of a high quality commensurate with available resources and represent value for money in meeting the Customer and Client expectations and requirements.


To assist in the analysis of service requirements and the development, review and monitoring of performance indicators by which the quality, efficiency and cost effectiveness of the work of the Service and Team is demonstrated.


To conform to the Council's quality standards and policies, Acts of Parliament, Statutory Instruments, Standing Orders, Service and Departmental Office Manuals, Financial Regulations, Contract Management and Administration systems and procedures, etc.


To carry out the day to day administrative duties, including filing, photocopying, archiving and the collation and distribution of information as required.

Ensure that file/record/data systems are up to date.

Be conversant with a wide range of manual/ computer filing systems, including index, sequential, chronological, numerical and address based systems.


To update computer systems as appropriate in relation to the work of the service, including coding, updating, inputting, processing, printing and word processing tasks as appropriate.

To understand the practical implementation of computer based systems such as WP systems, spreadsheets and databases.


To assist in maintaining, updating and processing of Financial Management Systems including trading accounts, cost centre accounting system, book keeping of income, and expenditure ledger, job costing/time sheet management system, recording and filing systems.

To ensure that stock levels of stationery and other equipment held or used by the team are adequately maintained. This includes taking responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of equipment inventories.


To comply with the operating procedural requirements defined within the Quality Assurance system; maintaining, reviewing, developing and improving the Team's procedures, and monitoring performance output against indicators.


To use, promote, and develop IT systems to ensure that Service makes the best use of the technology that is available including word processing packages, spreadsheets, presentation packages and databases.

To undertake other duties commensurate to the grade of the post.
