Part Time 22.5 hours per week. Fixed Term for 12 months


The Digital Midwife is responsible for providing first line day to day management of the Maternity Information System / Maternity electronic patient record (EPR).


The post holder is a registered midwife with the ability to use all areas of maternity information system and able to identify opportunities to expand and improve the use of the Maternity Information System.

They will coordinate and integrate into clinical care the various facets of the system ensuring safe clinical practice occurs by all users.


Has responsibility for ensuring all staff are trained and competent in the use of the various systems used to record care within Maternity Services.


The post holder works closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Clinical Lead Midwives, IT and Information Departments to ensure new systems and upgrades are implemented smoothly within the Department.

The post holder will provide ongoing support for staff using the system.

The post holder will work clinically across the Maternity Service to maintain own competence and credibility.

An Enhanced DBS with barred lists for both Adults & Children is required for this post.

The Secretary of State has approved the partnership between St Helens & Knowsley and Southport & Ormskirk Hospitals.

KEY DUITIES
To act as a resource and advocate.

Work flexibly across all maternity care settings including the community to provide digital support to the entire maternity workforce.

To participate in the formulation of and maintenance of positive working relationships within the multidisciplinary team.

To take responsibility for organising and prioritising own workload.

To contribute to training in relation to digital systems.


Responsible for the development and review of all relevant Standard Operating Procedures and reference files relating to the information system.

Actively participate in the development and review of process maps relating to the Maternity Information System.


Work in conjunction with senior managers and clinicians to plan and deliver IT projects in the context of business and operational priorities and available resources.

The post holder will be responsible for identifying and resolving complex MIS problems which arise. This will involve managing and identifying potential solutions where required.

This will also include communicating the solution to all users of the system and working in conjunction with the IT helpdesk.
