Responsibilities

As a dispensing optician, you will fit and dispense spectacles and other optical aids based on prescriptions from optometrists.

Additionally, you will guide patients on lens types, frames, and styles, offering advice on factors like appearance, weight, and color.

Moreover, you will educate patients on effectively wearing and maintaining their spectacles and contact lenses.

Furthermore, you will serve as an Oakley ambassador, ensuring a warm welcome for every customer at the store and surpassing their expectations throughout the shopping journey.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding customer service and showcase a high level of professionalism
  • Coach assistants to consistently demonstrate effective sales techniques that enhance customer interaction
  • Interpret optical prescriptions from optometrists or ophthalmologists
  • Provide guidance to patients on lens types, frames, and styles
  • Fit contact lenses and offer advice on their usage and care
  • Take measurements of frames and faces to ensure correct fitting and positioning
  • Advise visually impaired patients on utilizing low vision aids
  • Inform patients of any spectacles adjustments or repairs required
  • Select, oversee, and order various optical products
  • Place orders for lenses from prescription suppliers
  • Inspect lenses upon delivery to confirm specifications are met
  • Organize and manage store displays
  • Coordinate with sales reps from vision care product vendors
  • Supervise and mentor apprentice dispensing opticians
  • Recruit and supervise staff professional growth
  • Maintain accurate patient and business records
  • Perform essential administrative tasks
  • Efficiently network with internal and external stakeholders
