Description
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Theatre Assistant to join our team in Recovery. This post is full time hours per week, however we would accept a minimum of 30 hours per week.


You will be working as part of the multi-disciplinary team and promoting good interpersonal behaviour to others in the team.


You will be encouraged to develop both your career and the service within our positive environment and well established dedicated training and development framework.

Applicants will be expected to undertake internal rotation.


You should:


  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be computer literate
  • Be able to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Have good organisational skills
  • Be flexible
  • Previous experience desirable but not essential
  • Transfer patients from one location to another throughout the hospital environment, including between: ward and theatre, theatre and recovery, recovery ward. This includes pushing occupied beds.
  • Accurately record relevant patient information, including inputting on computer databases
  • Provide patient reassurance, information and support sensitive to their needs
  • Prepare and check equipment beds, transfer device (Bed Pusher).
  • Move and position patients following instructions from person responsible for the move
  • All actions are coordinated and communicated effectively with others involved with the move

  • To contribute in supporting nursing staff in the care of patients under the direction of registered members of the clinical team
  • To provide support and assistance within the Recovery teams.
  • Assist in supplying and maintaining materials and equipment
  • Undertake direct patient care
  • Undertake the theatre recovery competency pack
  • Undertake extended role e.g. blood gasses, BM recording, Collection of Blood and recording of products, collection and recording of specimens
  • Input data on theatre systems
  • Monitor, maintain and record stock levels as directed by the Team Leader
  • Accurately report any deficiencies in stock or faults with equipment
  • Using correct techniques following risk assessment transfer materials and equipment as requested
  • Take key responsibility for specific equipment or stock as requested
  • Receive handle and dispatch clinical specimens
