We are recruiting a Maintenance Fitter at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Green Spaces and Transport Services.


We pay an attractive salary of £26,421 - £28,770 (with an additional £3,000 market supplement to be paid in 12 instalments alongside the salary) and offer access to training and development opportunities.


The Fleet Maintenance Fitter is required to repair and maintain the Authority's refuse vehicles, sweepers and gritting vehicles including all mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, in accordance with the manufactures recommendations, and efficiently and effectively diagnose faults on chassis and body equipment for a range of vehicles.

You will work within schedule of rates contract times and record all necessary documentation required in line with the Authority's procedures.


For the role, we ask that you have:

  • A full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence to drive Council Vehicles along with a full driving licence for vehicles weighing over 3.5 tonnes (3,500kg), Large Vehicles Category C or C+E, or willing to obtain following appointment within 12 months.
  • Good proven record of working on HGV vehicles, light commercials and working with municipal vehicles.
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial vehicle repairs, servicing and maintenance
  • Relevant City and Guilds or Level 3 qualifications or qualifications at a similar level.
