Zenith People are happy to be working with our client who are a Manufacturer looking to recruit a Project Buyer on a permanent basis.

Main Purpose of the Role

We are looking for an experienced buyer ideally with a background in High Volume/Fast Moving Manufacturing to join the direct purchasing function to lead the sourcing process from A sample through to PPAP approved products.

Experience Required:

Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes and cost breakdowns associated.
Automotive Purchasing processes and techniques.
Experience in working to IATF aligned systems.
Proven record of hitting target costs and aligning overall B.O.M costs to target.
Proven track record in working with global supply base and development of new suppliers.
Cross functional interaction with business functions.
Capability to participate or lead supplier audits, visits and progress meetings.
Strong record in identifying, delivering and managing cost down programmes including VAVE And resourcing techniques.

Skills & Attributes Required:

Ability to read, interpret and deploy technical specifications / drawings.
Strong experience of supplier identification, qualification and benchmarking.
Project management capabilities to provide regular concise updates as to purchasing status.
Expediting capability to ensure any risks are highlighted, managed and reported effectively.
Ability to lead cross functional feasibility meetings with suppliers to successful conclusion.
Experience in the procurement and qualification of components to QCD principles & APQP process.
Competent user of ERP systems including logistics set up and handover on NPI.
Commercial awareness including impact to business performance.
Ability to prioritise workload and work to tight deadlines.
Selfmotivated, creative with an ability to work on own initiative and in team environment.
Excellent presentation skills.
Welldeveloped interpersonal and organisation skills
Computer literate (i.e., use of excel, word, powerpoint, etc).

General Overview of the Role

Commodity support in the areas of Casting, Machining, Gears, Laminations, Electronics, Rubber/Plastics, Sheet Metal Forging, Bearings, Special Components and Fasteners.
Develop and harvest a culture of Automotive grade suppliers, with global footprint including India, China, Eastern Europe and aligned to company business growth and potential manufacturing footprints.
Liaise cross functionally within the business to support engineering, commercial, quality, supply chain and logistics departments.
Ensure above activities are completed ensuring Company philosophy to mínimal environmental impact and environmental sustainability.

New Product Introduction & Design/Supplier Change Requirements.

Facilitate and lead implementation of new product supply from A sample prototype level through to C Sample, PPAP approved status.

Lead and implement synchronous handover to allocated supply chain and quality team.

Education/Qualifications Required:

HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline would be advantageous
Working towards becoming a member of a relevant professional institution e.g., Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS)

Salary:
£48,000.00-£52,000.00 per year
