Job summary:


  • To provide commercial procurement / purchasing contract solutions in support of the Sealand, Stafford and Deployed Business units in accordance with all MoD, Government Procurement Policies / Legislation

Job description:

Maintain compliance with all current Ministry of Defence (MoD), Government Procurement Legislation.


Ensure transactional activities are being performed on the appropriate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and all activities within the team are carried out in accordance with the DECA business systems and KPI's (Key Performance Indicators).


Procure goods and services using authorised and internal credit card procedure within the delegation level granted to the role,maintaining monthly credit card log, reconciliation of spend and report to Finance.

Obtain Best Value for Money for purchases undertaken by utilising existing frameworks and testing the market for prices.

Advise & support the Business in its procurement needs using the appropriate strategy and producing associated reports.

Create pricing structures and assess impacts for the business.


To manage the tender process and associated activities, including assessment of the tender pack as required and to present findings.

Input order placement onto the business ERP system and associated activities as required.

Maintain and develop supplier relationships, activities such as pricing, resolving invoice queries, delivery issues etc.

Write, manage and oversee procurement contracts on behalf of the business.

Manage and support ad-hoc projects required, sourcing suppliers for required tasks.

Investigate and resolve invoice queries and advise finance department.

Understand scope requirement to support with bid development, procurement input and to attend meetings.

Monitor and manage spend to assess year on year savings in contracts.

Drive continuous improvement and implement any process improvements utilising the knowledge and skills within the team.

Develop & maintain productive working relationships with the wider team.


Person specification:

We are looking to recruit experience procurement professionals in the first instance.

Consideration will also be given to applicants with transferable skills who demonstrate their suitability for development based on past experience and academic achievement.

Interviews and appointments will be on merit.


Essential criteria:

  • Experience of the procurement of goods or services in any role
  • Educational qualifications equivalent to Level 3 (e.g. A level, access to higher education diploma, advanced apprenticeship) ina relevant discipline
  • Willingness to work towards and achieve level 4 Member of The Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS)within a reasonable and agreed timeframe (we will cover your training costs and provide you study time)
  • Desirable criteria:
  • Public Sector experience of tendering and contract management
  • Member of The Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) or currently studying towards
