SEMH Teaching Assistant - Cheshire

Pay Rate £80-£100 per day (depending on experience)

  • Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant who specialises in supporting young people with mental health and behavioural issues?
  • Are you passionate about helping vulnerable children to develop and looking for a new opportunity?
Empowering Learning are recruiting 2 x SEND Teaching Assistants to start on 3rd January 2023.


Working hours:
Monday to Friday
8:45am pm


This special school is part of an alternative provision that caters for vulnerable young people aged 12 to 18 who are disengaged from mainstream education.


You will be required to support students on a one to basis and in small groups both academically and emotionally, across a variety of lessons and activities.

The pupils who attend have a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) includingSocial Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, ADHD, Autism, behavioural difficulties and Looked After Children; so excellent behaviour management is necessary with a calm but firm approach.


This school is based in an easily commutable area by public transport and the school have excellent facilities including a Hair & Beauty Salon and workshops for Motor vehicle/engineering/Design.


You will be working alongside a supportive staff team ensuring a positive and safe learning environment is provided for all students.


To be considered for this SEND TA role you will need

  • Experience supporting young people with a range SEND including SEMH, ADHD and mental health
  • Good literacy, numeracy and communication skills
  • Excellent behaviour management with knowledge of a range of deescalation techniques
  • A positive attitude with a calm but firm approach Additional requirements:
  • References confirming suitability for role
  • Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

Salary:
£80.00-£100 per day

  • Day shift (a shorter day as the kids are in until 2.30pm)
  • Monday to Friday
  • No weekends

Experience:


  • Special education: 1 year (preferred)
