1 WTE Clinical Information and Performance Facilitator - fixed term 18months


Applications are invited for the posts of Clinical Information and Performance Facilitator within the Cancer Information Department, at St Helens & Knowsley Hospitals Trust.


We require highly motivated, team players with excellent communication skills in order to negotiate with, and motivate all members of the team to ensure audit and data needs are met.

The post holders will be required to work on his/her own initiative and plan own workload and workload of the Team accordingly.


The post holders will have:


  • Significant experience in a line management/supervisory role, including objective setting.
  • Knowledge of the Somerset Cancer Register, its functionality and working processes.
  • Knowledge of cancer waiting times target definitions.
  • The post holder will provide a professional information service supporting the clinical data agenda and encompassing the management of the clinical information systems and the Navigator Team within the Clinical Information Team to ensure the collection and analysis of appropriate and accurate data whilst adhering to all relevant deadlines.
  • You will provide an analytical clinical information service for Trust management, clinicians, the cancer network and national clinical audit programme.
  • Provide training on the Somerset Cancer Database ensuring that clinical and admin staff receive adequate and appropriate training with regards to the system


The post holder will work closely with the Senior Clinical Information Leads and clinical teams to devise accurate data collection tools.

You will work closely with team members to provide high quality, professional administrative support, ensuring effective communication and meeting strict deadlines.

The post holder will have proven team working skills and experience in the production of reports, documents and presentations. You will be proficient in the use of Trust systems.


This is an excellent opportunity to be part of the on-going development of data management for patients within the Trust.

You will also be instrumental in exploring new areas of work for the team to undertake.

A willingness to learn new skills and the ability to work as a member of the Clinical Information Team whilst communicating effectively with staff at all levels will make the job an exciting and rewarding challenge.


The team will be working a hybrid model with some time working from home and some time spent at Knowsley Community College and will be an integral part of the Cancer Information team.

However, they will also work in close collaboration with all clinical and support service teams which could require time spent on either Whiston or St Helens Hospital sites.

KEY DUTIES

  • To maintain the information reporting systems (Somerset Cancer Register, SSNAP etc) and any databases and query tools required to support the Trust, the Senior Clinical Information Lead, and the cancer multidisciplinary teams (MDTs). Ensure that the IM&T housekeeping tasks associated with such systems and data are adequately implemented.
  • Research and identify information pathways, in order to provide support for healthcare delivery, planning and performance management processes.
  • To manage, produce and analyse information on a regular and ad hoc basis to support reporting as per the Trusts contract requirements for example Cancer Waiting Times Targets, Cancer Peer Review process, stroke, and hip fracture best practice tariffs etc.
  • Monitor the tracking process for Cancer Fast Track referrals, identifying and dealing with any issues that arise.
