PRESCRIBING ADMINISTRATOR
JOB SUMMARY
We are looking to appoint a Prescribing Administrator to join our Prescribing Team at The Glebe, Storrington.
The successful person will work alongside the Clinical Pharmacist, prescribing team, GPs, other clinicians as well as the reception team.
The duties in this role will include:
- Liaising with patients, care homes and pharmacies about medication related queries.
- Contribute to audits to improve the quality and safety of prescribing.
- Assist in booking patients in for the necessary high risk drug monitoring.
- Assist in booking patients in for the necessary long term condition monitoring.
We require an individual with excellent communication skills, a compassionate and friendly nature and ability to operate in a busy environment working alongside our clinical and administration teams.
The Glebe has -13,500 registered patients. We are part of a PCN with Steyning Medical Practice, Henfield Medical Centre and Billinghurst Surgery.
PURPOSE OF JOB
The purpose of the Prescribing Administrator is to ensure that prescription requests are managed in an efficient and accurate manner and patients have a point of contact for medication related queries.
The Prescribing Administrator will adhere at all times to the practice's agreed protocols and procedures.

- Patients, carers and relatives

- Community pharmacy teams
- CCG Medicines Management Team
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide an effective service as part of the Prescribing Team to ensure prescription requests are actioned within the necessary timeframe.
- Liaising with patients, care homes and pharmacies about medication related queries.
- Liaise with community pharmacy teams about supply disruptions and alert clinicians of any issues and suitable alternatives as advised by the community pharmacy.
- Make accurate records in a patients notes of any communication.
- Contribute to audits to improve the quality and safety of prescribing.
- Assist in delivery of incentives to protect and save NHS resources.
- Closely monitor patients who are on high risk drugs to ensure the necessary monitoring takes place in a timely fashion.
- Assist in the recall of patients requiring long term condition monitoring.
- Assist in the training of other members of the team, as necessary.
- Report on near misses and significant events.
- Adapt to the needs of the service.
