The Data Subject Access Request (DSAR) function sits within the Legal team and is responsible for dealing with all DSARs submitted to St.

James's Place.

The Legal team is a larger team of 14 employees, who are responsible for providing legal advice and support across the St.

James's Place group.

A DSAR is a request from an individual to see a copy of any data that the company may have collected to do with them.

Individuals have a legal right to request to see their data and understand how it is handled and so it is important that requests are responded to and delivered within the statutory timeframe.

Individuals may submit a DSAR for a number of reasons.

This could be because they are simply curious or unhappy or unsure on how and why their information is being used.

A reason for submitting a DSAR is not required and anyone can make a submission.

As an apprentice in the team, you will help to co-ordinate the business's response to DSARs in accordance with our statutory obligations (pursuant to the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation).

This is an important regulatory function with the opportunity to take on responsibilities from day 1, build up significant knowledge of the UK data protection landscape and over time to progress within the DSAR function and beyond.

What you'll be doing:

  • Assist with the management of DSARs in accordance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation.
  • Dispatch responses to DSARs via a secure online portal to minimize the risk of data loss.

Who we're looking for:

If you are interested in this Apprentice role, you will need to hold a minimum of level 4 in English Language and Mathematics and have a basic understanding of the data protection regime established by the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK GDPR regulations.

If you have studied A level Law and are interested in furthering your knowledge in Data and Law in a corporate environment, this may be a perfect opportunity for you.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Great organisational skills.
  • Eye for detail.
  • Confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to work closely to deadlines.
