Description

Working with a leading London University to find a talented, forward thinking Payroll Manager who will be responsible for the delivery of an outstanding payroll service.

This includes providing an efficient and effective payroll service to the universityand its companies, whilst ensuring compliance with all statutory legislation.

The post holder is expected to lead on process improvement initiatives, anticipating and dealing with issues and ensuring that the payroll team provide a responsive and timely service.


They will oversee and ensure an effective payroll service which will assist in enhancing people management practices and the interpretation and implementation of relevant HR policies and procedures.


Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified member of CIPP or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • A Programme and Project Management Qualification or equivalent professional experience
  • Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable success in leading teams to deliver excellent payroll services in support of business needs.
  • Experience of presenting, leading and managing complex highprofile projects
  • Excellent IT skills, including expert use of standard Microsoft software packages (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Understanding of HR/Payroll systems functionality, preferably Northgate Resource link
  • Commitment to University's values and expected behaviours
  • Highly organised with the ability to plan and monitor workload, balance conflicting priorities and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of current payroll best practice and legislative requirements
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail and oral and written communication skills
  • Strong customer focus and passion for providing excellent service
  • Selfaware, able to exercise and demonstrate sound judgement
  • A team player with a flexible and proactive approach to work

Desired

  • Experience of working in a Higher Education or NHS environment (or other similar public sector)
