Fair Access are recruiting full time (37 hrs a week Term Time Only) Tutors due to the ongoing expansion of the service.

Education Programme Tutors provide one to one tuition as part of an education package to children and young people (CYP) in a variety of localities throughout Kent.

The Education Programme is an interim service providing bespoke tuition packages to children and young people (CYP) in Key Stages 1-4.

These CYP are without a school place due to exclusions; or will have an EHC Plan awaiting a place at a named provision.

The Children & Young People accessing the programme require one to one support in preparation for accessing identified onward education provision.

At present, there is the flexibility to complete the non-teaching aspects of the role as work from home or from a local KCC building.

The wellbeing and inclusivity of our cohort is integral to the delivery of the service. The whole team focus is on delivering child centred academic activities while supporting and improving educational outcomes. You will plan and undertake personalised, relevant academic focussed activities with pupils within an individualised programme.

The individualised programme offered to a CYP may comprise of 1:1 face-to-face sessions, online live 1:1 sessions delivered using Microsoft Teams or a Blended offer using a combination of these methods.

You will require excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage challenging situations, and the ability to communicate clearly and successfully both verbally and on written records and reports.

The Education Programme maintains a CPD programme for the whole team, including regular training on high incidence SEND.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position.

The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.

The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

Previous applicants need not apply.
