Job Summary:
To responsibly carry out the functions of any role trained to do in the production of medical device components whilst demonstrating a proactive learning mindset whilst supporting Team Leaders and Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
General
- Coordinate the daily activities of the Cleaning team to ensure the hygiene of the factory and facilities is maintained to the highest level, arrange absence cover as required
- To ensure safety and cleanliness is maintained at the highest level at all times within the non production areas, such as but not limited to: Offices, Laboratories, Changing Areas, Toilet facilities, Car Parks and Yard
- Liaise with outside contactors to ensure waste is removed from the site as required
- Liaise with garment cleaning contractors to ensure the pickup and drop off overalls is maintained to ensure stocks of garments are available in the changing areas as required
- Ensure adequate stocks are available for the drinks vending machines and that the machines are cleaned daily
- Ensure adequate supplies of cleaning materials and equipment are available at the point of use
- Report issues with the site facilities to the Site Engineering Manager
- Demonstrate a proactive learning mindset whilst supporting Team Leaders and Managers
- To be available for work at the required times as defined by their shift pattern
- Where trained, carry out any task as requested by the Shift Supervisor or their deputy
- Comply with all machine instructions and ensure proper use of equipment and assets
- Comply with all process work instructions, control plans and safety schedules
- Remove waste from the manufacturing areas
- Maintain the hygiene and cleanliness of the manufacturing areas
- Maintain the hygiene and cleanliness of the nonmanufacturing areas during the late shifts
- Ensure waste segregation is maintained
- Ensure as far as reasonably practicable that the site is compliant with West's Environmental policy
Health Safety and Environment
- Take reasonable care for their own safety, health and welfare and that of any other person, who may be affected by his/her acts or omissions while at work.
- Work in a safe manner and stay alert, in order to avoid injury to themselves or other employees and avoid damage to the company's equipment and property.
- Follow all safety rules and requirements and provide feedback to coworkers working unsafely.
- Stop Think Act: Discuss problems openly with colleagues and leaders before taking action in a nonroutine situation.
- Use any personal protective equipment or clothing, suitable appliance, equipment or other means for securing his/her safety, health and welfare while at work.
- They shall not perform a job that for they were not trained to perform and they shall inform their supervisor in this case.
- Partner with management on all the provisions taken by West to ensure the safety, health and welfare of its employees.
- Employees will not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse any appliance, protective clothing, equipment or other means provided.
- Each employee will attend and follow training required by West.
- Employees shall not be under the influence of intoxicating substances such as alcohol or drugs and inform their supervisor of a disease, illness or prescribed medication that may add to risk.
- Ensure as far as reasonably practicable that the site is compliant with West's Environmental policy
Quality
- The job holder is aware of his/her special responsibility for quality according to the company's quality policy and conducts his/her activities in accordance with the company quality procedures at all times
- Comply with company cGMP regulations
Qualifications
- Level 2 Qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
- Counterbalance Fork Lift Truck trained
- Scissor lift trained
- Full understanding of COSHH assessments for materials used on site
- IOSHH Level
- Basic computer literacy
- PASMA Trained
Preferred Knowledge, Abilities:
- Required:
- Competent in written and verbal use of the English language
- Competent in basic numeracy
- Desirable:
- Experience of working in a manufacturing environment
- Trained in all aspects of accidental spill controls
- Full understanding of waste segregation
- Handyman type DIY skills
