The HR Smith Group, a world leader in airborne antennas, search & rescue equipment and aerospace electronics, has the following vacancy for an enthusiastic Payroll/HR Administrator to join our dynamic team to assist in all administrative and payroll functions within the busy HR Department.

Role Responsibilities:


  • Maintain Holiday and sickness records for all employees.
  • Process holiday / cancellation slips in a timely manner.
  • Update Sickness & Absence spreadsheet for monthly reporting.
  • Liaise with internal managers to obtain back to work forms.
  • Process Paxton daily absence report and investigate anomolies.
  • Prepare and issue contracts and offer letters to prospective employees.
  • Carrying out preemployment checks, collating and distributing preinduction checklists and packs, Fob access requistion form. Requesting and chasing references.
  • Administration of new starters including inductions across the sites.
  • Update Employee Personnel files and master database as required.
  • Process leaver checklist (including return of assets and resignation acknowledgement) and administrate Exit interview process.
  • Accurately maintain manual and electronic personnel files in a confidential manner.
  • Supporting the HR team with ad hoc administration projects and reports.
  • Distribution and collection of internal documentation.
  • Update Logbook as and when required recording all HR correspondence in department for processing. Collate and file paperwork as required.
  • Processing fixed penalty notice charges for employees/senior management.
  • Provide information and analysis for ONS surveys.
  • Reception cover during holiday and busy periods.

Job requirements:


  • To be trained on the use of the Telephone Switchboard system in order to cover the Reception area in the absence of either Receptionist's due to holiday, sickness or as and when required.
  • A high level of discretion and excellent organisational skills.
  • Approachable with a willingness to help.
  • Good Excel knowledge, communication and managerial skills.
  • Well organised, highly efficient and selfdisciplined, this is a busy role, which will demand a high level of attention to detail.
  • Full time position. Salary commensurate with experience.
  • Hours are based on a 40hour week, Monday to Friday 8.00am to 4.30pm with half an hour each day for lunch. No weekend, evening or bank holiday working.

Due to the nature of the business being a manufacturing environment, hybrid (working from home) arrangements are not available.
