Overview

Purpose of the role:


The primary purpose of this position is to undertake the review and approval of marketing communications, with a specific focus on final promotions relating to BNY Mellon Investment Management's retirement solutions and multi-asset fund offerings.

Residingwithin BNY Mellon Investment Management's EMEA Marketing team, this role represents a key element of the Marketing function's control framework.

The holder of the role will be responsible for ensuring marketing communications issued to both retail and professionalaudiences are compliant with the FCA's financial promotion rules, the laws and regulations in other jurisdictions, where applicable, and BNY Mellon Investment Management EMEA's marketing standards.

In addition, the role holder will be responsible for the provisionof advisory support to Marketing colleagues on governance matters relating to such financial promotions.

This role is dedicated to working in our agile UK Retirement team. This team is focused on delivering on one of our strategic initiatives to enhance our Multi-Asset proposition. The individual in this role will be expected to deliver on their work to achieveour sales targets.

This includes joining the team stand-ups, owning their items on our backlog and owning the processes needed to deliver on their work.

The team works with a mindset of continuous improvement so the induvial will be expected to enhance theprocesses they own, bring new ideas to the table and execute on those ideas with the support of the wider team.


Main responsibilities:

  • To undertake the review and approvals for marketing materials to be issued in the EMEA region that fall within scope of the Marketing selfcertification agreement, to ensure compliance with the FCA financial promotion rules, the local laws and regulationsof other regions, where applicable, and BNY Mellon Investment Management's marketing standards. This will include communications for both professional and retail audiences.
  • To undertake first line control activity (i.e. acting as peer approver) for marketing materials outside the scope of the Marketing selfcertification agreement.
  • To act as consultant/adviser to the BNY Mellon Investment Management EMEA Marketing team on financial promotion compliance matters, including training for new joiners on BNY Mellon Investment Management EMEA's marketing standards and how to utilise coretools such as the Disclosure Library.
  • To support the Global Marketing Governance & Risk Specialist in development and delivery of training materials and best practice guides relating to EMEA financial promotion compliance requirements.
  • To monitor management information relating to overall rejection rates, disclosure errors and regulatory errors in marketing materials submitted for approval to identify emerging themes and trends and to identify potential knowledge gaps that may need tobe remediated through additional training with Marketing document owners.
  • To act as lead for the implementation of new regulatory requirements for marketing materials to be issued in EMEA. In particular, those applicable to BNY Mellon Investment Management's UK retirement solutions and multiasset fund ranges. This includes trainingMarketing colleagues on requirements, defining implementation plan, working with the relevant document owners to identify collateral impacted and tracking completion to plan.
  • To maintain the Marketing Standards Manual for EMEA, in particular as applied to BNY Mellon Investment Management's UK retirement solutions and multiasset fund ranges.
  • To support the Global Marketing Governance & Risk Specialist in the completion of general marketing governance duties, including maintenance of process and procedures documentation.

Key outcomes:
Success in this role will be demonstrated through all approved financial promotions meeting the relevant rules and regulatory standards. Furthermore, the role holder will be expected to demonstrate a truly collaborative attitude.

This will include proactivelyengaging with Marketing colleagues to ensure they are equipped with the relevant knowledge and guidance on the FCA's financial promotion rules, the local laws and regulations of other regions and BNY Mellon Investment Management EMEA's marketing standardsto empower them to create innovative and effective communications that are compliant across all mediums.


Core skills and experience required:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A strong team player and selfmotivated
  • Proven ability to work effectively to tight deadlines
  • Capable of exercising sound judgement and good decisionmaking in managing risk
  • Good organisational skills and selfdiscipline in managing priorities
  • Prior experience working with financial promotions and knowledge of the UK rules and guidance in COBS and PERG is desirable
  • Previous exposure to the rules and guidance in other European jurisdictions would be beneficial
  • Prior experience working within the financial services industry would be advantageous, particularly within an asset management firm or fund service provider

Qualifications:

  • Degree level preferred but not essential
