Personal Assistant/Support Worker (EQUALITY ACT 2010 SCHEDULE 9, PART 1 APPLIES)

About me:

Male of 40 Years of age, with Down Syndrome, type 1 insulin-controlled diabetes, epilepsy, and celiac disease. The individual has a fun and outgoing personality but can be difficult to manage at rare times.

Hours and rate of pay
12 -16 hours a week (days will be confirmed/can vary within the week)

Location:

Location is home based, in and around Hitchin/Letchworth/Stevenage area, taking the client out and about is required.

DBS/Checks:

Confirmation of DBS check and if there is a trace (to trigger a risk assessment).

Right to Work and references will be needed.

Training
Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required, the mandatory training requirements are as follows:

Mandatory training for Personal Assistants (Adults)_
Safeguarding Adults
Introduction to first aid
Health and Safety

What you would be doing
Provide daily care and support for the individual, including assistance with lunch meals, and medication management (insulin only for lunchtime), following a gluten-free diet

Engage the individual in activities and exercises to promote physical and mental well-being.

Monitor the individual's health and provide support for managing diabetes, will be provided training on this, it's a very simple process.

Provide transportation for appointments and outings as needed.

Communicate effectively with the individual's family and healthcare providers, and managing difficult behaviours.

The person I would like
Having the following is preferable;
Knowledge of celiac disease, type 1 insulin-controlled diabetes.

A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Compassionate and patient approach to care
