Description
Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.

Most people don't think too much about how clean water reaches their taps. Or what happens to their waste water.

But Scottish Water does. In fact, it's all we think about.

Join us as a Water Quality Governance & Assurance Technical Lead in the Public Health and Water Regulation team. You'll be on the front lines of making sure Scotland's water is totally, dependably pure.

What you'll do

As Water Quality Governance & Assurance Technical Lead, you'll provide leadership, technical advice, guidance, and innovative solutions on all aspects of water quality governance and assurance across Scottish Water and its supply chain.

You will advise and co-ordinate key support to the business in matters relating to water quality assurance, water quality hygiene and audit against processes and procedures.

You'll help make sure that the Water Quality Governance and Assurance team is fulfilling its role by reporting, ensuring obligations and non-compliances are identified and highlighted to relevant business units and escalated where necessary.

You'll produce water quality assurance information for key governance groups defined under Scottish Water's Water Supply Risk Management (WSRM) system.

You'll be working with national groups, such as Energy & Utility Skills (EUS), on water hygiene awareness, as well as working with our own Learning Department to develop internal training packages.

You'll be the person who sees how we can work better. With your super-vision for efficiency, you'll hunt down flabby processes and opportunities for improvement. You'll nose straight to our pain points and shine a light on well-hidden waste.

You will support the continued certification and improvement of WSRM through risk verification processes, with continuous improvement being a key activity of this role.

Another key activity is providing leadership of cross company/multifunctional working groups in areas of Distribution, Operation and Maintenance Strategy (DOMS) and Treatment, Operation and Maintenance Strategy (TOMS).

What you'll bring

You'll have good technical knowledge of water quality regulations, water supply processes, water hygiene best practice and risk management.

You'll have experience of embedding business operating processes and procedures within a quality management system and knowledge and understanding of providing assurance of best practices are also important.

You'll work closely with a wide range of both internal and external customers, so you'll need to be someone who's good at networking and building strong working relationships.

Making friends and influencing people is just what you do. There's no formal qualification for that.

Speaking to stakeholders will call for confidence and strong communication and negotiation skills. You'll be able to challenge and seek agreement in highly complex situations.

Character is important to us. Across the whole of Scottish Water, we look for people who are _Bold, Responsible, Inspiring _and_ Caring_. (And you can expect these characteristics to make an appearance in your interview with us )

Looking out for you

While the work we do is important, we know it's not the only thing that matters. That's why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.

This is a full time role and the working hours are Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. But you'll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community.

When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.

For your future, there's our pension (the 'know-what-you'll-get-when-you-retire' kind), as well as life assurance.

As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus.

Not to mention access to SW Splash - handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.

The not-so-small print

The starting salary for this role is between £45,873 and £58,418.

All new Scottish Water employees are required to complete pre-employment security checks before they can start work.
