About the Role:

This role is to work 30.5 hours per week, between the hours of 8.00am and 6.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Actual hours to be decided based on our rota needs but it will be a combination of full and half days (mornings or afternoons).

Flexibility is essential as you will be required to work different or additional hours to cover for colleagues. You will be expected to work at both sites - Valley View Health Centre and Cuffley Village Surgery.


Duties to include:

  • Dealing with telephone enquiries promptly from patients/general public and other health professionals
  • Making/cancelling appointments
  • Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc
  • Dealing with requests for information, and managing problems and complaints
  • Advising patients of practice procedures
  • Booking appointments and home visits
  • Undertaking a variety of administration duties to assist the smooth running of the organisation
  • Attending reception and staff meetings
  • Helping to ensure the reception area runs smoothly at all times
  • Ideally previous medical / healthcare receptionist experience although training will be given.
  • You will have excellent communication skills with a clear and polite telephone manner.
  • You will work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients at all times.
  • You will have experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations.
  • You will be confident to work as part of a team and be able to think on your feet independently.
  • Strong IT and administration skills.
Flexibility is essential as you will sometimes need to work additional/alternative hours to cover for colleagues.


About Us:

We are a large, friendly practice serving a patient population of approximately 13,000. We are based over two sites - Cuffley Village Surgery and Valley View Health Centre.

We have a very supportive team comprising of GPs, Nurses, Paramedics, HCAs and Administrative Staff.
