Starting Salary

£21000


Responsible for
Supporting the delivery of the People and Culture strategy of The Alnwick Garden Trust.

Assisting with the implementation of Lilidorei including support with recruitment, induction and the embedding of a new area of the organisation.

The post holder will have responsibilities including training coordination and payroll services.


Duties and Responsibilities
To learn, understand and eventually deliver the payroll function within The Alnwick Garden, completing a payroll qualification if necessary

To complete a relevant Human Resources Apprenticeship at the agreed level (level 3 or level 5)


To work with the Strategic Head of People and Culture to coordinate and implement training plans and training courses for Alnwick Garden staff.

To generate pension scheduling reports, ensuring pension payments are processed within required timeframes and payments are accurate

To support the Strategic Head of People and Culture with recruitment plans for Alnwick Garden and Lilidorei.


To work with the Strategic Head of People and Culture to ensure that The Alnwick Garden's Human Resources Policies are up to date, legislatively compliant and value adding.


To work with the Strategic Head of People and Culture to continually review The Alnwick Garden's retention strategy to ensure that talent is nurtured and retained, and organisational knowledge is managed and safeguarded.

To collaborate with managers to identify individual and team development needs and provide support and guidance on appropriate action plans that ensure employees are motivated and are constantly developing and improving their performance for both personal and professional growth

Where appropriate to give Human Resources guidance, advice, and support to the CEO, Strategic Heads, Department Heads and Managers of The Alnwick Garden

To ensure all employee related records are filed and safeguarded in compliance with policy and legislation.


Person Specification
The successful applicant will have

Excellent planning and organising ability

A good level of numeracy to GCSE A - C grade or equivalent

Confident in working with numbers and recording accurate data.

Ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

Enthusiasm to learn and develop new skills.

Excellent analytical skills and the ability to identify issues and problems as they arise

Ability to problem solve and provide creative solutions to often complex issues.

Capacity to manage multiple priorities, often with competing deadlines, to successful conclusions

Ability to communicate complex information and advice in a way that is understandable and clear to a wide range of people and audiences

Ability to act with a high level of discretion and maintain the highest level of confidentiality

A high level of diligence and motivation, capable of working on own initiative to complete work and apprenticeship related tasks#

Excellent time management

Good Microsoft Office Skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook


Capable of working within a values driven environment and a commitment to embracing and embedding The Alnwick Garden culture and values.
