This is a great opportunity to be supported and work along side one of the Finance Managers.

Description

The duties for the Cost Accountant are:

  • Analyse revenue, direct production and indirect labour, inventory valuation, burden rates, cost of sales and gross margin
  • Compare actual product costs with budget, estimates or standards and analyse results
  • Validate of bill of materials, overhead rates and allocations
  • Ensure that direct production labour is accurately recorded
  • Monitor and report of direct production labour efficiency's to standard.
  • Production of timely & accurate monthly management reports, including validation of cost of goods sold by product line, including standard cost of sales, inventory adjustments and scrap.
  • Manage accurate and timely inventory control, including cycle counts, monthly/quarterly WIP valuation and physical inventory accuracy. Responsible for annual year end physical inventory.
  • Analyse slow moving inventory and calculate E&O reserves
  • Support annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting.
  • Maintain system pricing to ensure accurate billing.
  • Support year close activities including liaising with auditors.
  • Support third party cost audits
  • Provide support to the Finance Director
  • Proactively work with key stakeholders to identify areas of improvement to positively affect costs efficiency's and product improvements

Profile

The successful Cost Accountant will have:

  • Experience in a similar role
  • Studying towards CIMA, ACCA not essential
  • Experience of using an ERP system
  • Strong communication, written and presentation skills including an ability to explain financial issues to nonfinancial staff
  • Analytic skills
  • Strong management reporting skills
  • Advanced IT skills including Excel
