Siemens Gamesa in Hull is expanding
Opened in 2016, our Wind Turbine Blade Factory in Hull has manufactured Blades for some of the largest Wind farms in the world.
As we move now into the manufacturing of next-generation offshore wind turbine blades, our factory is growing to become the largest offshore wind manufacturing facility in the UK.
As we have now completed our expansion we are now offering the opportunities for Production Operative roles.
What is a Production Operative and what do they do?
Production Operatives complete a variety of tasks, depending on the area of the factory. Tasks include laying materials into the mould according to process specifications and sequences set out by our Engineers. The materials include glass fibre sheets and balsa wood.
Work as part of a team and will involve lots of standing, twisting, stretching, bending and some light lifting, always whilst paying close attention to the health and safety of yourself and those around you.
Packing Team
As part of our packing team, you'll build state-of-the-art blades to manually pack fibre glass fabric into a mould and infuse it with resin to create fully casted blades.
This dynamic role will see you everywhere and anywhere in our blade packing and casting area, from preparing components to arranging blade moves.
Casting Operatives are responsible for infusing the glass fibre in the moulds with an epoxy resin mix.
Carbon Beam Team
As a Carbon beam operative, you will be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of the carbon beam mould, packing of the beam which requires handling fibre glass and balsa wood.
Key responsibilities for these roles include:
- Organise and use materials and hand tools
- Follow structured work instructions
- Problem solving
- Plan and carry out your work, as part of a team, to process materials according to engineering specifications and quality standards.
- Check and monitor constantly ensuring very high levels of attention to detail
Useful skills and entry qualifications are:
- We want you to be a valuable member of our team, it would be great if you have any experience of previously working and contributing in a team environment
- Although not essential, some experience of working with fiberglass or other sheets of material would be great
- Some experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment would be advantageous
- Experience of working a shift pattern would be advantageous

You will learn the very detailed requirements of the role and your knowledge will be tested before production begins
What hours will I work?
You will work a 12hr shift pattern that includes nights and some weekends. You would normally work an average of 40.25 hours per week.
