    Job introduction:This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a friendly and established adoption team focussing on supporting adoptive families whose children are aged from years.


You will have the chance to undertake a range of work including assessing the support needs of adoptive families; commissioning therapeutic services; being part of our duty / helpline team and supporting adoptive and first families to keep in touch.

You may also help out at our parent / toddler group and occasional family fun days. This is a 4 day / 30 hour post.


Interview date: 19th March at Portslade Hub


About the role:


You will be keen to learn and be an organised, empathetic person who enjoys working independently as well as part of a team.

You will be able to work within a policy framework in relation to confidential information and data protection.

You will have good administrative / data entry and report writing skills as well as having the personal skills to engage with children and families coping with stress and challenge.

An understanding of the parenting needs of previously in care children and young people who have had early adverse experiences and attachment disruptions and are living outside of their birth families would be a real asset


You will be employed by Brighton and Hove City Council and largely working locally, but working for Adoption South East, the Regional Adoption Agency for Surrey, East and West Sussex as well as Brighton and Hove.

This means there are always exciting opportunities for collaborative working and development across the region.

This post would suit hybrid working as some duties can be carried out working from home.

We offer group supervision, reflective practice groups and peer mentoring to help new workers develop into their role.


Additional information:

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
