About the Employer
I am mum to a young teenager with a learning disability who also suffers from epilepsy. I work myself, and I have two other children at home.

I am looking for a PA to provide support and to give me a short break from my caring duties.

About the Role

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.
  • Assist and encourage socialisation, participating in activities.
  • Promote and encourage friendships and independence.
  • The PA should be calming and reassuring as the client does not like loud noises.
  • Some experience of working with epilepsy is preferred.
  • The employer is looking for a kind, caring and patient personal assistant who is understanding of children with disabilities, and sensitive to their needs.
The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.


Transport Requirement:


  • Car driver preferred but not essential.

Required Skills:


  • Be honest, reliable, trustworthy and punctual.
  • To be able to work on own initiative.
  • Be patient, supportive and caring.
  • Have good listening skills and be able to provide nonjudgemental emotional support.
  • Be empathetic.
  • Previous caring experience is not essential, however you should have a genuine interest in supporting people with a disability/illness to achieve their goals.
  • Be able to work flexibly, adapting to the employers needs on a daily basis.
  • Flexibility would be an advantage as the hours may be variable.
  • The employer would prefer a PA who has previous experience working with children/young people with special needs and experience of working with epilepsy.

When you are Required:


Hours per week:4 hours term time and 6 hours per week in school holidays.


Dates and times are flexible and can be discussed at interview.

Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent


Salary:
£12.45 per hour
