The key purpose of this role is identifying new business as well as looking after existing customers and achieving set sales targets.


Hours
42.5, 6am to 3pm Monday to Friday with daily unpaid 30 minute lunch break.

23 working days holiday plus bank holidays.


KEY PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • To control the flow of work through the workshop to maximise its utilisation and ensure that technicians are working efficiently.
  • To ensure that all company policies and procedures applicable to their area of responsibility are adhered to at all times.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Receive job cards from service reception, pretime each job and allocate work to technicians so as to maximise sold hours and monitor progress of job.
  • Obtain authorisation for any additional work required either through service reception or by direct contact with customer.
  • Ensure that all warranty items are identified for each job and that parts replaced are labelled, appropriate documentation completed and passed for action.
  • Receive job cards for completed jobs ensuring that work has been completed correctly; time completed jobs so that job costing can be completed, and ensuring all warranty items are highlighted and all associated documentation is completed.
  • Arrange for customer to be informed that vehicle has been completed.
  • Ensure that the image and levels of customer service within the department is in line with Company standards.
  • Schedule all PDI and used car preparation to ensure that sales department requirements are met.
  • Ensure that all special tools and equipment are kept in good order and that repair requirements are notified to the service manager once discovered.
  • Ensure that the workshop is kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • Ensure that all customer complaints are dealt with both speedily and effectively, and that any unresolved problems are referred to the job holders immediate supervisor.
  • To be responsible for the supervision of subordinate staff ensuring that their designated duties are performed correctly, highlighting any problem or shortfall areas to their immediate supervisor.
  • Identify training requirements for workshop team and technical specialists.
  • Ensure that within their area of operation all Company and Trade Associations policies, procedures and minimum standards are met and that all statutory requirements including trading standards, vehicle and consumer legislation, fire, health and safety etc. are adhered to.
  • Handle all internal and external customers and suppliers with courtesy and ensure the Mercedes-Benz experience is delivered to all contacts at all times.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience as a Senior Technician.
  • Strong technical background.
  • Full understanding of Standard Text Times and Warranty procedures.
  • Enthusiasm to deliver the Mercedes Benz customer experience.
  • Good administration skills/organisation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Flexible approach to work and adaptable to thrive in a changing environment.
  • IT literate.
