General Assistant required to cover Kitchen Assistant duties and Laundry duties.

Applicant must be willing to work weekends when required to meet the needs of the home.

Job Role Kitchen Assistant

Reports to Catering Manager

Responsible to Home Manager

Job Purpose

To assist the cook in the preparation of ingredients for meals, the serving of meals and beverages, cleaning of crockery, cutlery and equipment and maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen and wash up area in accordance with the Homes policy.

Main Duties

Prepare vegetables and other ingredients for meals.
Clean the kitchen and wash up area, kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery and other kitchen equipment.
Prepare and serve meals.
Undertake duties to ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen.
Be responsible for the adherence to standard operating procedure of equipment and proper use and disposal of cleaning agents to meet Health and Safety regulations and other regulations recommended by the Registering Authority.
Perform other related duties, not specifically enumerated in this job description, which may from time to time be assigned by the Home.
Assist in the preparation of all meals (where applicable).

Assist the cook in maintaining stock control and considered economy.
To participate in staff meetings and training.
Maintain strict confidentiality on all matters arising from any discussions or any meetings within which you are involved.
To maintain strict confidentiality on all matters in relation to the Care Homes and all other matters to do with Care at Home (Wales) Ltd.
At all times to comply with the Health and Safety and all other policies within all premises of Care at Home (Wales) Ltd.

Laundry Assistant

Accountable to:
Registered Manager

The key responsibilities of the Laundry Assistant's include:

Safely store dirty laundry, sorted into appropriate wash loads.
Wash, dry and iron all bed linen, table linen and towels.
Ensure that the linen cupboard is well stocked and tidy.
Ensure systems for the identification and correct return of personal clothing are effective.
General cleanliness of the Laundry area including air filters and equipment.
Understand wash guide instructions, laundering requirements of a wide range of têxtiles and the properties of cleaning materials to ensure that all areas are well presented and maintained in good condition.
Practice safe systems of work across the range of tasks and in particularly moving and handling of loads, by assessing risk and having due regard for personal safety and the safety of residents, visitors and staff.
Act accordingly towards residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident.
Advise on the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring the timely and appropriate ordering of replacement goods.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with all residents, family, visitors and colleagues.
