Chapman Tate Associates seeks an AS400/i-Series operator to join this top-this established Services Provider of IBM Hardware, Business Continuity, Security and Cloud based solutions.
My client is looking for 2 x Operators and is happy for you to be based from home (as long as you are able to do so).
This is a key role within the IBM Support Management Team where you will help and support of business areas.
Technically you will have experience around the following:
- 3 or more years of experience with: AS400 / iSeries, backup / recovery and job scheduler functionality
- Able to troubleshoot both AS400 Operational problems
- Verify Turnover between shifts are properly covered
- Thorough understanding of Backup and Recovery (BRMS) (will train)
- Follow up on all special requests from sites (Refresh/Backups/etc.)
- Daily Interaction with the Midrange Systems group
- Support and be involve with the Critical Incident Management team activities. ITIL v3.0
The role will include the following responsibilities:
- Maintain system and device health for high volume printers, tape drives
- Perform and manage backups
- Operate system side software
- Follow up on all special requests from sites (Refresh/Backups/etc.)
- Daily Interaction with the Midrange Systems group
- Be available to cover any Shift whenever required
- Publish daily activity and problem logs
- Support and be involved with the Critical Incident Management team activities
- Proactively monitor the health of systems and notify manager as appropriate
- Monitor the systems for threshold adherence
- Monitor batch operations
- Execute tasks required for backup and recovery operations (tape setup and mounting activities, tape post processing and dismounting activities)
- Document issues and escalate them to the appropriate support groups
