Newark and Sherwood District has much to be proud of, a captivating history, beautiful countryside, characterful market towns, world renowned businesses, visitor destinations, and an enviable location at the crossroads of the country's transportation network.

There is a lot happening when it comes to economic growth and regeneration in our district.

Our local economy is not immune to ongoing challenges nationally in terms of unemployment, declining industry sectors, vacancies, and retaining footfall, activity, and vibrancy and, recently, the cost-of-living crisis has made this situation more challenging.

There is a requirement to support the growth and resilience of the local economy and we have a very active Economic Growth Team who provide a fantastic service in supporting businesses and individuals through information, events, advice and guidance, site and property enquiries, training and skills courses and grant support.

As an Economic Growth Officer, you will be a key member of the team and the core focus of your role will be to support businesses and industries to grow and diversify within the Newark & Sherwood area.

You will provide a high quality and efficient service to businesses, partners, and stakeholders in delivering inward investment, business support, skills, property enquiries, and industry growth.

You will also be responsible for commissioning, contract management, negotiating and delivering projects and programmes that support economic growth and will participate and present to different groups and networks.

We offer a competitive salary, enrolment in the local government pension scheme, flexible hours, hybrid working, a generous annual leave entitlement that increases with service, a whole host of family-friendly benefits, 1 days' paid volunteering leave, free staff car parking* and £10/month gym membership at one of our four gyms in the district.

You will also be working with a professional, committed and experienced team who are passionate about supporting our communities.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a positive track record of communicating and working with a range of partners including business, business groups, enterprise agencies and government departments in delivering economic development.

You will be educated to degree level, or equivalent, and will have excellent communication skills along with an understanding of the roles of Elected Members within this sphere.
