As Part of the drive to keep children, families and our communities healthy this winter the School Age Immunisation Service is looking for enthusiastic and motivated public health assistants to support the delivery of the seasonal flu programme in Schools on fixed term contracts.


You will work as part of a close-knit team who are dedicated to improving the uptake of vaccinations and reducing vaccine inequality.

The project will focus on communities in Medway.

Full time or part time working will be considered.

You will support the delivery of school aged immunisation programmes across Kent.

The work takes place in a variety of settings, including schools, clinics, and community venues to deliver the National Childhood Immunisation Programme and Childhood Flu Campaign.

With direction, support and guidance from the Clinical Lead, you will work with the target communities to improve vaccination uptake by:

  • Being aware of the profile of your local communities (e.g. deprived areas, non-English speaking, vaccine hesitancy, travelling families) and raise the profile of immunisations within these areas (open days, local council events, health days, community workshops, training events etc)
  • Ensuring digitally excluded families are supported to complete econsent forms by arranging drop in sessions at schools and calling families who have not submitted a consent form
  • Schedule and deliver school assemblies to young people within targeted school settings.
  • Confidently deliver presentations to parents/carers, teachers and other agencies on vaccinations required in accordance with National immunisation programme.
